Often growing up when me and my sister didn't have softball, dance, girl scouts, or Awana going on my mum would put us in the car and we would just drive. When we would come to a stop sign or a fork in the road we would take turns choosing what direction to continue driving. There were very few times when we would get lost, and I remember my mom always saying "Don't worry, all roads lead home" and some how on those winding back roads we always did end up home. To this day my Mum and I go out on long drives through the country and eventually we end up at the ocean, but last week I was looking at things a little differently. The fields and farm houses that were abandoned looked incredible against the backdrop of a bright blue sky. I normally don't stop and look at houses but I was feeling sentimental or something and was stuck wondering who use to live there and what there life was like. Sometimes I like to imagine those things. They are always more tidy and wrapped up in my head then the reality of what life was probably really like in these places.
How perfectly overgrown this place is. My Mom told me who use to live there. I guess it was an older lady and when she died the house just stayed vacant. I think the town owns it now but it doesn't look like anyone has touched it in years.
This was the field behind the house. It is perfectly situated in the middle of nowhere.
The next one we stopped at I actually got out and explored. It was so perfectly dilapidated and beautiful. It looks as if one day they just decided to leave and never look back. I should probably do some research into what really happened, but I think the story I have in my head is more fun.
The inside of this barn was the really cool part of this place. This place has been vacant for a while and it was relatively untouched by graffiti which seems really rare.
I'll end with this one since it is my favorite from that day. I'm starting to learn to see beauty in the decay and the commonplace instead of only looking for the extraordinary and the obvious.

What an awesome day that must have been. I love doing things like that also..you have a way of showing what's not happening there and what did.
